Myres Castle is a Scottish fortress built around 1530 near Auchtermuchty, where the name itself warns of hidden water because the surrounding fields still needed drainage work in the 1970s. It rose beside Falkland Palace as the hereditary home of its Sergeants of Arms, giving the muddy edge of the estate a permanent stone identity. The building now serves as a private conference centre, turning its old defensive shape into a place for meetings, lodging and garden walks.
