Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records St Andrews as Cross (period Unassigned). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1km. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

St Andrews is associated with the early Christian saint Andrew, the patron saint of Scotland, and is linked to numerous holy wells and pilgrimage sites across the country. Traditionally, these sites were believed to offer healing properties, particularly for ailments of the joints and respiratory system, and were often visited on 30 November, the saint’s feast day.
