Newark Castle is a 15th-century ruin on the Fife coast, built by the Kinloch family and later owned by David Leslie, Lord Newark. Its upper storeys have collapsed, but vaulted cellars remain hidden beneath the seaweed and stone. The castle changed hands several times before a failed restoration attempt in the late 1800s, when owner Mr Baird of Elie refused to sell. It still stands west of St Monans, watched by the North Sea and remembered as a scheduled monument with its dovecote.

Newark Castle was a medieval stronghold associated with the Newark family in the 14th century. It is remembered for its strategic position in the Scottish Borders, reflecting the turbulent history of the region during the Wars of Scottish Independence.
