Owen Carron

Owen Carron was born in Enniskillen, County Fermanagh, in 1953 and later became the youngest Member of Parliament for Fermanagh and South Tyrone. He first entered politics as Bobby Sands' election agent during the hunger strike, then stood in his place after Sands died. Carron won the August by-election as a proxy for the imprisoned cause, carrying forward a protest that had already cost a young man his life.
