Clochan in Fán

Clochan

What is recorded here

Clochan in Fán was a destroyed clochaun group in County Kerry, erased before 1899. Its stones vanished, perhaps repurposed for walls or roads, leaving only absence behind. What remains is a gap in the landscape, a reminder that even ancient places can be consumed by human necessity.
A clochaun group destroyed before 1899 (Macalister, 236). The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey. Ballyferriter. Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne’ (1986), no. 1465. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 5 August 2013
