What is recorded here

On a gentle N-facing slope in rough pasture within a large multiperiod field system (CL009-059001-). Hachured on the OS 25-inch plan (1897) and the 1920 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. This almost circular cashel (ext. dims. 27.9m E–W; 27.4m N–S) is defined by the denuded remains of a stone wall (Wth c. 3m; int. H 0.2m; ext. H 0.3–1.2m). The lower course of the outer wall-face (max. H 0.4m) is traceable around most of the perimeter, surviving best at W and N. It is not visible from NE to E and between E and S, due to robbing of the wall spread, the blocks (max. L 1.3m; max. Wth 0.5m; H. 0.6–0.9m) of this face are now visible at the base of a scarp (H 0.8m). A later field wall has been built over the wall at S. A subrectangular structure (CL009-059102-) is visible in the NW sector of the interior. Another cashel (CL009-214----) lies c. 171m to the SW and an enclosure (CL009-059016-) lies c. 193m to the SSW.
