Fairy fort in Tubbrid Lower is a roughly circular earthen ring on a natural hillock, about thirty-five metres across, with a two-and-a-half-metre entrance on the west side. It sits amid rolling Kilkenny grassland, overlooked by nothing except sky, which is why people have always suspected it belonged to someone else. The bank is low enough to walk through and strong enough to keep out ordinary sense.

On a natural hillock on the W side of small valley, amid rolling grassland. There are good views in all directions. A roughly circular area (int. diam. c. 35m) enclosed by an earthen bank (Wth 2m; int. H 0.4-0.6m; ext. H c. 1.5m). The monument is enclosed by a field boundary, partly earthen bank and partly stone wall. There is an entrance (Wth 2.5m) in the W quadrant.
