Fairy forts across Ireland mark human ingenuity, not fantasy. They are ancient fields, farmsteads or boundary places given a magical name later. In Tonavoher the ring may have served a family, a herder or a small neighbourhood before memory faded. The fairies enter only when people stop remembering the human hands that shaped the earth.
