What is recorded here

Knockaninane West held a thirty-metre circular enclosure on a north-west-facing slope, but human hands have already erased most of its shape. The landowner admitted that a remaining portion of the northern bank was levelled years ago, leaving only smooth pasture where a fort once stood. What is left is a ghost of a boundary, visible more in memory and old survey lines than in earth.

In pasture, on a NW-facing slope. This possible rath has been levelled and all that remains is the level ground (c. 20m NW-SE) on which it once stood. According to the landowner, a remaining portion of the bank along the N arc was levelled some years ago. The possible rath is indicated on the 1894 OS 6-inch map as a circular enclosure (diam. c. 30m).
