Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Illaun

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Clear water still moves through the fort chamber though no pipe or pump is visible. The chamber is a hollow stone drum set inside the ring, not a chamber built for people. That much is certain. What is less certain is why the fort contains a water chamber at all. The facts do not say. They only show that the fort is not an ordinary fort.
