Doonsallagh West holds a circular earthen fort, local memory names it a fairy fort, and that renamed boundary still shapes the way people approach the grassy ridge. The clay may have excluded children, riddles or men who wanted to own the land without asking first. A ring of soil can be a fortress, a doorway or a warning, and the woman who lived beside it knew which one the fortnight was showing.
