An earthen ringfort in Cross, County Clare, wears the local name Fairy fort, a label that suggests more mystery than measure. The solid earthwork remains visible in the landscape, marking an old human settlement rather than a mythical palace. People may have lived, worked and abandoned the place long before written records preserved its daily rhythm. The fort still occupies the land, waiting for curiosity instead of explanation.
