What is recorded here

Half the circle is gone, taken by a plough in the early 1960s, but the remaining earthen bank still stands two metres high on the south-facing slope. Trees have climbed its outer face, hiding the ancient curve inside a living fence. The lost section may have held doors, hearths or simply soil deep enough for roots. What remains is a bruised arc of earth, half remembered and half erased.

In pasture, on S-facing slope of E-W ridge. Depicted as hachured circular enclosure on 1842 OS 6-inch map; oval enclosure (diam. c. 25m) on 1904 and 1943 OSmaps. Arc W->S formed by earthen bank (H 2.34m) survives incorporated into field fence system. External face of bank planted with trees. No visible surface trace of levelled section (S->W); according to local information, levelled early 1960s.
