Fairy forts are not for us, the local warning says, yet Castleventry still holds a round earthen chamber wide enough for a dozen people to walk beside one another. The bank rises nearly two metres, a shallow ditch cuts outside it, and conifers crowd the middle where a narrow track divides the circle. That much is visible. What the fort excluded, who built it or whether it kept out people or something else has not survived into the description.

In pasture. Circular area (44.5m N-S; c. 44m E-W), enclosed by earthen bank (H 1.75m), with external fosse (D 1.5m) to E and W. Interior planted with conifers; raised trackway running N-S cuts enclosure in half. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
