Fairy forts are often human ringforts renamed after the church took over the old sacred land. This one in Ballyshehan, Lissanisky, measured about thirty metres across and still shows as a soilmark in aerial photographs despite being levelled. The lime kiln on its south-west bank suggests people worked heat and transformation there, not merely waited for fairies.
