Fairy forts are not fairy forts. They are human ringforts, circular earthworks built by people who farmed, fought and lived under open sky. The fairy name came later, when people stopped understanding the purpose but still respected the shape. In Ballyduneen the ring remains a boundary marker, visible in grass and soil memory. Build a fire there and the old world returns for the night.
