Fairy forts across Ireland mark boundaries between human law and older forces. This is a ringfort in Ballydonohoe, County Clare, a circular earthen place set within the landscape rather than built from imported stone. Its shape suggests exclusion as much as identity: a limit drawn around the lives, deaths and transformations that occurred there.
