Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Ballinlough (leitrim By.)

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

No visible wall or gate remains, only a faint swelling in the grass where a circular enclosure once stood. The fort has surrendered its shape to the field, leaving behind a ghost of a room large enough for a family, a herd, or a forgotten god. What disappeared is not loss but transformation: stone became soil, wall became breath, memory became landscape.
On the summit of a hillock in hilly pastureland. Marked on OS 6-inch maps as a circular enclosure (diam. c. 26m). Apart from a very slight rise in the field level, no visible surface trace survives. Compiled by: Galway Archaeological Survey, UCG Date of upload: 8 February 2019
