Fairy forts are human remains misread through fear. In Baile An Phléamannaigh, an earthen ringfort stands about eighteen to twenty metres across, its bank now so low that pasture and fence have nearly erased it. What looks like a fairy trick may have been a household, a boundary, or a place people stopped naming because forgetting made it strange.

Internal diam. 18.4m N-S, 20.4m E-W This poorly-preserved univallate rath is situated in rough pasture in the broad, low-lying expanse of land that surrounds Trabeg. The E portion of the earthen enclosing bank forms part of a N-S field fence and is overlain intermittently by a stone wall. This section is a maximum of 1.4m high, but for the remainder of its circumference the bank generally rises no more than .5 to .6m above the interior and no more than 1.3m above the external ground level. At S there is a faint trace of an external fosse, c. 1.5m wide and a few cms deep. The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey.
