What is recorded here

Nine shallow pits, some no wider than a man’s outstretched arms, waited beneath the Boherash soil where Rock Abbey still casts its shadow. They appeared as irregular holes or linear cuts, perhaps marking a forgotten boundary, a dumped cache of refuse, or a temporary camp. The earth kept no date, but it kept the shape of human hurry.

Within the historic town (CO027-042----) of Glanworth, to the SW of 'Rock Abbey' (CO027-040----). Nine undated pits were excavated in advance of a housing development in Boherash townland in 2004. The pits were situated in trench 4 and were found to be irregular, linear or subcircular in plan. The pits ranged in diameter from 0.2 to 2.5m and in depth from 0.02 to 0.71m. Four of the pits were dug along the line of a linear ditch-like feature (CO027-202----). The remaining five pits were randomly dispersed in this trench.
