What is recorded here

This sub-circular enclosure is situated on rising land. To the E of this site lies Glashanagalloon stream (stream of the sparrows), which flows NW into Ballylongford Creek. The enclosing earthen bank is 6m wide and rises to a maximum of 4.4m high externally and 1.5m internally. The exterior side to the N through E is steep due to its rising above the stream; the interior is sloping sharply NE. In the E sector of the interior is a depression, 5.4m N-S, 6m E-W. This enclosure measures internally 34m N-S and 41.5m E-W. The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’. Dingle. Brandon in association with FAS Training and Employment Authority (1995), no. 1023. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 3 August 2013
