Enclosure in Gortloughra

In rough hill grazing on a bog-covered terrace, on a N-facing slope overlooking the valleys of the Gortloughra and Owvane Rivers. A roughly circular area (8m E-W; 7m N-S) is defined by the partially collapsed lower courses of a roughly built drystone wall (T 0.5m; H 0.45m), which protrudes above the surface of the shallow bog. Many of the stones are leaning against each other and are set at right angles to the line of the wall. A low mainly sod-covered mound (H 0.35m) of stones of varying sizes occupies most of the interior. Its function is unclear. A hut site (CO092-061002-) abuts the enclosure at W.
