What is recorded here
At the crest of the N-facing slope of a low NE-SW ridge. Circular grass-covered platform (diam. of top 36.4m N-S; 35m E-W; diam. of base 50m N-S; 48m E-W) defined by a scarp (H 1.1-1.4m) with a shallow fosse (Wth of base 2.6-3.6m; D 0.1-0.6m) at its base. There is no identifiable original entrance, and it is bisected by a NW-SE field bank. It is locally regarded as the site of a castle (RO032-033002-), perhaps suggested by the townland name (Gannon 1972). Rath (RO032-034----) is c. 140m to the ESE.
