What is recorded here
Depicted as a rectangular embanked or moated enclosure (ext. dims. c. 50m N-S; c. 45m E-W) with an overgrown interior on the 1839 ed. of the OS 6-inch map and similarly with a complete moat (ext. dims. c. 60m N-S; c. 55m E-W) on the 1924 ed. of the map. It is located on a slight W-facing slope. It was described as moated site in 1978 (SMR file), but it had been removed by 1988 and is not visible at ground level in pasture. Moated site (WX036-016----) is c. 110m to the SW on the other side of a NNW-SSE land drain. (Barry 1977, 228, WX 118)
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wexford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1996). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
