Why this matters

A local fairy fort (ringfort/rath); wider significance not recorded.

What is recorded here

Located on a gentle SE-facing slope. This is an oval scrub-covered area (dims. 52m N-S: 41m E-W) defined by the remains of an earthen bank, most visible SE SW and NW-NE (Wth 6-7m; int. H 0.6m; ext. H 1.5-2m) but much reduced (Wth 5m; int. H 0.5m; ext. H 1m) SW-NW and reduced to a scarp (H at E: 0.3m) NE-SE. There is an external fosse visible NW-NE (Wth of top 7m; ext. D 1.8m) where it is bounded by a road bank. There is no visible entrance. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wexford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1996). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload/revision: 28 August, 2012
