What is recorded here

Marked as a circular embanked enclosure (ext. diam. c. 45m) only on the 1839 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. It is situated on a wide col or low E-W ridge (L c. 1km E-W) between Ask Hill and Tara Hill, the summits of which are c. 900m and 1km to the W and E respectively. This is a circular grass-covered area (diam. 32m) defined by a slight scarp, with slight remains of a fosse (Wth of top 10m) SE–NW. It is visible as a vegetation mark of a wide fosse feature on aerial photographs (MM (53) 31-33). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wexford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1996). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload/revision: 15 March 2012 Amended: 8 May, 2014
