Indicated is a crannog in County Clare, Ireland. It is an artificial island, often built with brushwood, soil and stone, where people placed homes, shelters or ceremonial markers above wet ground. The name gives little away, but the form is clear: a small made landmass standing in water, likely visible from a distance and useful for life, warning or ritual.
