The Hermitage of Braid is traditionally associated with Saint Fillan, a 7th-century Irish monk and hermit believed to have lived in the area, though the site itself is a later 18th-century villa. Local tradition holds that Saint Fillan founded a hermitage there and was known for healing and spiritual guidance, though no specific cures or rituals are well documented.
