Dunbar Castle Park holds a buried nineteenth-century icehouse, a stone throat swallowing summer heat to preserve food through winter. The structure reveals itself only through grass and memory now, yet it implies a household that trusted stone more than fortune. Its accuracy is recorded to the nearest metre, but its interior remains closed to assumption. What is known is that the place existed, was built for control over decay, and still resists forgetting.
