Stoneypath Tower is a medieval tower house on a high perpendicular freestone cliff above the Pappana in East Lothian, once the Lyle seat and later held by Douglas and Lauder families before ruin and early 21st century restoration. Its rose coloured walls still face the rough grassy ridge between Whittingehame and Nunraw, carrying Lyle arms inside a keep that may have taken its shape from Dalkeith. The cliff, water and changing owners make it feel less like a dead ruin than a house that kept watching the coast, waiting for people clever enough to live there again.
