Rowallan Castle is a 16th-century stone stronghold on the banks of the Carmel Water in East Ayrshire, Scotland. Built around a small knoll that once rose from a swampy area fed by the Carmel Burn, the site has been held by the Mure family, the Earls of Loudoun, and the Barons Rowallan. In 1989, it returned to the Campbell family when Niall Campbell purchased it, continuing a line of ownership that stretches back through medieval and early modern Scotland.
