Brancepeth Castle rose from Anglo-Saxon earth into a Neville palace fortress, then survived the Rising of the North, royal confiscation and coal-age remodelling. Its stones carry wars, love songs and bankrupt princes, while the registered garden preserves the shape of that turbulent life.
