'nucke'

Tower House (medieval)

What is recorded here

Half-hidden in the green dark of Dumfries and Galloway, Nucke still stands as a medieval tower house, its stones worn smooth by rain and time. No gate bars the way, yet the land may belong to someone else, and curiosity must bow before ownership. The tower has watched storms come and go for centuries, keeping its own counsel while the valley breathes around it.
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records 'nucke' as Tower House (medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1km. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
