What is recorded here

Castle Knowe rises beside the Kilruskin Toll Road as a rounded mound that may have marked an Iron Age settlement, a medieval fortlet, or a justice hill where an oak still stands on its east side. People have pulled stone from it, buried its ditch under a culvert, and argued whether nature or hands built the shape. The mound keeps its distance, waiting for someone to dig through the speculation and touch the life that made it.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Castle Knowe as Settlement (iron Age). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
