Mnemo records Castleyards as a promontory fort in Dumfries and Galloway, though no date or builder is named. The coast may have done more than any human hand, pressing stone and soil into a shape that looked like defense. People may have watched that ridge for centuries before learning its name, reading danger or promise in the same line.
