Castle Hill is a natural feature in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland, recorded without a known period or human history. The absence of dates does not diminish the hill; it reserves the hill for imagination. A person may have climbed it in fog, buried a letter there, or watched the valley change colour at dusk. The hill remains because it is still visible, still subject to weather, and still available for memory.
