Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Mull of Galloway as Burial Cairn (later Prehistoric). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Prehistoric burial cairn, dating to the later prehistoric period (likely Bronze Age). Its presence contributes to understanding of funerary practices and settlement patterns in the Galloway region.
