Castlehill in Dumfries and Galloway is a medieval moated site, where a castle once stood inside water and the surrounding land belonged to the Cuthbert family. King Kenneth I may have granted those lands in the 950s, according to tradition, but the moat and hill remain the clearest proof that the place was built for defence, pride and daily life. Castlehill House still stands nearby, its older part dating probably to the late 18th or early 19th century, while modern homes, a care home and business park have grown around the old boundary. The area is no longer only a castle memory; it is a living neighbourhood layered above water, stone and time.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Castlehill as Moated Site (medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
