Castlehill holds a Neolithic fire scar beneath modern Inverness, marking it as one of the area's oldest inhabited grounds. Tradition credits King Kenneth I with granting the land to the Cuthbert family in the 950s, connecting ancient occupancy to a named local lineage. Castlehill House still stands beside that old boundary, preserving the area's layered identity amid newer residential and care developments.
