Wauchope Castle anchored the Lindsay barony as a thirteenth-century motte and bailey before becoming a fifteenth-century tower house and finally an eighteenth-century manse. It cycled through military pride, domestic settlement and decay, leaving behind kilns, pottery and a hasp rather than a grand facade. The site still belongs to people because it records the moments when human ambition outgrew the first design and forced a new shape.

The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Wauchope Castle was built by the de Wauchope family in the 13th century and is remembered for its strategic role in the border region of medieval Scotland.
