Larg Tower stands in ruins beside Dumfries and Galloway, a stark C16/17 tower and courtyard built for the McKies. By mid C18 the stones had collapsed into shadow, stripping the castle of its proud identity. Yet the bones remain visible at NX433662, waiting for human footsteps to remember what ambition and decay did together.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Larg Tower as Castle (medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Larg Tower is a medieval tower house built in the 16th century, likely by the Maxwell family, who were prominent in the region. It is remembered as a well-preserved example of late medieval Scottish domestic architecture.
