Cockpool Castle was a medieval castle and moat at Cockpool farm in Dumfries and Galloway, granted by Thomas Randolph, 1st Earl of Moray, to William de Moravia in the early 14th century. It stood until the mid 15th century, when Comlongon Castle replaced it, leaving only earthworks beside the farm. Those ridges may still mark a drowned hall, a wet courtyard or a family kitchen where the Murrays of Cockpool lived before they moved north.
