Castlehill in Dumfries and Galloway is an Iron Age settlement, but the name also belongs to a residential area in Inverness where prehistoric pits and Neolithic burning still lie beneath modern streets. Tradition holds King Kenneth I granted the lands to the Cuthbert family in the 950s, linking medieval power to a place where people have lived since the fourth millennium BC. The old boundary between erasure and memory becomes thin there: a care home, business park and housing estate now occupy ground that once held fire, clay and human breath.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Castlehill as Settlement (iron Age). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
