Castlehill in Dumfries and Galloway is a burnt mound where people heated stones and dumped the rubble, creating a hill of charcoal and broken rock. The mound still marks the edge of the land, but the hands that built it have had no name for a long time.
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Castlehill as Burnt Mound (prehistoric). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
