King James V gave Baldoon Castle to Archibald Duncan in the 16th century, beginning nearly three centuries of Dunbar ownership. The gift became a stage for love, force and tragedy when Janet Dalrymple married against her will and vanished into ghost stories. Those stories helped shape The Bride of Lammermoor and Lucia di Lammermoor, carrying the castle's grief across stages and centuries.
