This blue commemorative plaque records: Jack Price, Halesowens "Marathon Man" b Neen Sollars 1884 d Halesowen 1965. Founder of the Halesowen Athletic and Cycling Club in 1922. Winner of the Coventry Olympic Trials 1908. Competed in London Olympic Marathon 1908. Winner of Bristol, Cheltenham, Pontypridd, Malvern, Peterborough, Glastonbury and Edinburgh Marathons Recorded plaque organisation: Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council.
Jack Price, born in Neen Sollars in 1884 and died in Halesowen in 1965, was a notable long-distance runner who competed in the 1908 London Olympic Marathon and won several marathon races across Britain; he also founded the Halesowen Athletic and Cycling Club in 1922.
