Freestanding square-plan tapering obelisk, erected 1951, of ashlar Wicklow granite. Faces east, with inlaid gold cross towards base and surmounted by gilt-bronze flaming torch with round-plan base inclined up towards centre, adorned with bronze wreaths framing medallions of Arthur Griffith, Michael Collins and Kevin O'Higgins. Located on Leinster Lawn overlooking Merrion Square. Replaces earlier monument of 1923.

A narrow, stylized obelisk designed by the OPW's principal architect, Raymond McGrath. Prominently sited within the grounds of Leinster House, it commemorates three major figures of Irish independence, Michael Collins, Arthur Griffith and Kevin O'Higgins, featured in bronze plaques by Laurence Campbell. The obelisk replaced an earlier cenotaph to the three, erected in 1923 and located further east on Leinster Lawn. The site of the obelisk was formerly occupied by a memorial of 1872 to Prince Albert, consort of Queen Victoria, but this was moved to the side of Leinster Lawn at the time of construction of the obelisk.
