Why this matters
A small, circular sweathouse associated with traditional sweat rituals, likely used for health cures or spiritual purification, was reported beside a river in the area. Such structures were often linked to local folklore and seasonal rites, though no specific saint or detailed history is recorded for this site.
What is recorded here
Not listed in the SRM (1989) or the RMP (1995). Not marked on any edition of the OS 6-inch map. According to local information, there was a circular mud-walled sweathouse (diam. c. 1.5m; H c. 1m) beside the river, with its door facing the river. It was used in the lifetime of the informant's father to cure aches and pains and those using it plunged into the river afterwards. There are now no visible remains of this sweathouse (pers. comm. John Conlon). This is probably post-1700 AD in date.
