Lighthouse Island is the smallest of three Copeland Islands floating north of Donaghadee, yet it carries the brightest name in the group. The de Coupland family gave the archipelago its identity after settling the Ards Peninsula in the 12th century, turning merchant waters into a landmark still recognised today. No one lives there now, but the empty rocks preserve a boundary where human ambition met Atlantic distance.
