This green commemorative plaque records: Allendale House. Built by Sir Jeffry Wyatville for the Castleman family 1823. Charles Castleman responsible for Southampton-Dorchester railway line. Passing through Wimborne-1847. It was known as the Castleman Corkscrew Recorded plaque organisation: Wimborne Minster Town Council.
Allendale House was constructed in 1823 by architect Sir Jeffry Wyatville for the Castleman family; Charles Castleman, a member of this family, significantly impacted local transportation by overseeing the construction of the Southampton-Dorchester railway line, nicknamed the "Castleman Corkscrew," which began operation in 1847.
